Supported Housing Week 2026

Supported Housing Week takes place from 19th to 23rd October and shines a spotlight on the vital role supported housing plays in helping people live independently, maintain their wellbeing and feel connected to their communities.

At Prima, we're proud to provide 159 supported housing homes (103 sheltered and 56 agency managed supported) across Merseyside. We know that having the right home can make a life-changing difference, which is why we're continuing to invest in new supported housing developments that will create more opportunities for people across the region.

Take a look at our projects that are Delivered, Underway and Up Next.

Delivered: Dinas Lane, Knowsley

One of our most recent developments is Dinas Lane in Knowsley, a £3.6 million scheme delivered in partnership with Knowsley Council. Built on the site of a former milk bottling plant, the development has transformed a long-vacant brownfield site into a thriving mixed community designed around people's individual needs.

The scheme includes Fern Lodge, providing 11 affordable rent apartments (including four fully wheelchair-accessible homes) alongside Bracken Court, a supported living scheme with nine apartments where residents can receive person-centred support while maintaining their independence.

“I’m delighted to see this scheme complete, providing much-needed supported living and general needs accommodation for our residents...we’ve also been able to create a greater choice too for residents, helping them to live independently.” Said Cllr Del Arnall, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care upon the opening of the development.

What sets Dinas Lane apart is its inclusive approach. From rise-and-fall kitchens and accessible wet rooms to an on-site community hub, communal gardens and energy-saving technology, every element has been designed to help residents live comfortably, confidently and independently.

Underway: Rutland Street, Tameside

In Tameside, we're working with mental health charity Waythrough to deliver Rutland Street, a specialist supported housing scheme providing 19 one-bedroom apartments for adults with mental health needs.

The development will include modern, purpose-built homes where residents can access the support they need while enjoying the privacy and independence of having a place to call their own.

This project reflects the importance of partnership working. By bringing together Prima's housing expertise and Waythrough's specialist support services, we are creating a development that responds directly to local need and helps people take positive steps forward in their lives.

“A unique scheme like this can take time to deliver and we’re delighted that such effective partnership working has allowed us to now see the development in its final phase. This project will have a profound and lasting positive impact on the wellbeing of the people who need our support.” Said Mike Scott, Head of Property Services at Waythrough.

Work on Rutland Street is due to be complete by early 2027.

Up Next: Church Road, Birkenhead

Looking ahead, our plans for Church Road in Birkenhead will see the creation of 13 supported housing apartments alongside five fully accessible bungalows.

The development is being designed to provide high-quality, affordable homes for people with a range of support and mobility needs, helping more people live independently while remaining part of their local community. With accessibility and adaptability at the heart of the scheme, all homes will be designed to meet relevant building standards and provide comfortable, self-contained accommodation suitable for long-term occupation.

The development will also place a strong emphasis on wellbeing and community integration. Residents will benefit from thoughtfully designed communal outdoor spaces and landscaped areas, while bungalow residents will have access to private gardens. The layout has been carefully planned to balance privacy with opportunities for social interaction, creating a modern, inclusive environment where people can feel safe, connected and supported.

“Supported housing is about more than providing a home. At Church Road, we are creating a place where people can thrive, live independently, and receive the support they need, while remaining connected to their community, family and friends” says Robbie Mannion, Development Programme Manager at Prima Group.

With demand for specialist housing continuing to grow, schemes like Church Road will play an important role in increasing housing choice and ensuring more people can access homes that are right for them.

More than bricks and mortar

Supported housing provides far more than a roof over someone's head. It offers security, stability and opportunities for people to live independently while receiving the support they need. During Supported Housing Week, we are proud to celebrate the positive impact supported housing has on residents' lives and recognise the colleagues, partners and communities who help make that possible every day.
