Resident voices: Supported Housing Week

Supported Housing Week takes place from 19th -23rd October and shines a spotlight on the vital role supported housing plays in helping people live independently, maintain their wellbeing and stay connected to their communities. It is also an opportunity to highlight the need for continued investment in the sector, ensuring more people can access the right home and support when they need it.

At Prima, we're passionate about providing homes that meet people's individual needs. We're proud to offer supported housing that helps residents live safely and independently, while also investing in the future through additional developments currently in planning and construction stages.

One of our most recent developments in Knowsley, is made up of two complementary schemes, providing 11 affordable rent apartments, including four fully wheelchair-accessible homes, and 9 supported living apartments where residents can receive person-centred support while maintaining their independence.

Designed with accessibility and independent living at its heart, the development includes rise-and-fall kitchens, accessible wet rooms, communal gardens, an on-site community hub and energy-efficient technology. Every element has been carefully considered to help residents feel comfortable, confident and supported in their home.

The scheme was created to provide greater housing choice for people who need additional support, enabling them to live as independently as possible and remaining part of their local community. By combining specialist accommodation, thoughtful design and shared community facilities, the scheme provides a safe, welcoming environment where residents can thrive.

We work closely with specialist support providers to ensure residents are matched with accommodation that best meets their needs. We continually review and improve our services through regular customer catch-ups, Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) and six-monthly meetings with our partner agencies. Our collaborative, multi-agency approach also brings together professionals from social care, community mental health services, and healthcare services to ensure residents receive the wraparound support they need.

Supported housing is about far more than providing a roof over someone's head. It offers safety, stability and the opportunity for people to build confidence, develop independence and move forward with their lives. Every resident has their own experiences, aspirations, and a story to tell, and it's important that these voices are heard.

To mark Supported Housing Week, we spoke to two residents living in our supported housing accommodation to learn more about their journeys and the difference having the right home has made to them. Read their interviews below.
