Prima Group Awarded ‘Suicide Safer’ Status Following Staff Training

We’re proud to share that Prima Group has officially been recognised as a ‘Suicide Safer Organisation’ by The Martin Gallier Project – a leading suicide prevention charity based in the North West.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of our customers and communities, a number of Prima staff recently took part in specialist suicide prevention training delivered by the charity. This included:

  • SafeTALK: A half-day suicide alertness course completed by 20 team members, including Housing Officers and Customer Experience Advisors. The training provided practical tools to recognise when someone may be having thoughts of suicide and how to respond using the TALK steps - Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep-safe.

  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training): A two-day, in-depth workshop completed by four of our managers and safeguarding leads, designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to intervene and create a plan to keep someone safe in crisis.

This training is an important step in strengthening our approach to safeguarding, helping our colleagues feel more confident in recognising signs of suicidal thoughts and in signposting people to the right support.

The Martin Gallier Project is the only suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention charity of its kind in the region. Their mission – to prevent suicide, break down stigma and ensure no one has to face a crisis alone - aligns with our values at Prima.

Receiving the Suicide Safer Stamp of Approval is a testament to our commitment to creating safer communities and making a positive difference to people’s lives. While we hope our staff never need to use the training, we know that in having these conversations and offering the right support, we could help save lives.

We’d like to thank The Martin Gallier Project for their support and expertise. We’re proud to stand alongside them in raising awareness and continuing vital conversations around suicide prevention.
