What you need to know and how it could affect you


Payment date changes


If you usually receive your Universal Credit payment between 24th – 26th of the month then you will be paid Monday 24th December. If you normally receive your payment between 28th – 30th then you will be paid Friday 28th December. If you usually receive your payment on the 1st of the month, you will be paid Monday 31st December. All other pay dates will stay the same.


Do you work and claim Universal Credit?


If your employer pays you early in December due to the Christmas period or pays you a Christmas bonus, you may receive a reduced Universal Credit payment in December or none at all. This is due to being paid twice in one assessment period. If you think this could affect you then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for advice.


If you applied for Universal Credit during the last two weeks of November, it is unlikely you will receive your Universal Credit payment before Christmas. We’d be more than happy to help you with budgeting and provide support while you make your claim.


Paying your rent at Christmas


We understand Christmas brings extra pressures and managing your finances can become more difficult. However, it is important that you prioritise your rent. Tenants who fail to pay their rent can put their home at risk, so we encourage tenants to keep making their regular payments in the run-up to Christmas and over the Christmas period.

How you can pay…


Our offices are closed from 4 pm on Friday 21st December 2018 until 9 am Wednesday 2nd January 2019. We have a few different ways you can pay your rent while the office is closed:


  • Download the Allpay app – available on Apple, Windows and Android devices
  • Use your rent card at your local PayPoint station
  • Contact Prima now to set up a Direct Debit to ensure your payments are made
