Transfers & Exchanges
If you find that your home is no longer suitable for your needs you may consider applying for a transfer and we will consider your request according to your housing need. Due to our very small stock of properties we normally give priority to people who need to move because of overcrowding, under occupation or ill health. The ability to cope in their present home will also be considered.
If you wish to apply for a transfer, please contact your Housing Officer.
Please note that we cannot normally accept an application for a transfer if you have not kept your home in a good state of repair and decoration or if you owe us rent. Once we have received your application for a transfer we will let you know whether we can accept you on the transfer list however acceptance onto this list does not guarantee a transfer.
Most of our tenants have the right to exchange with another tenant of a Housing Association, a Local Authority or another tenant of Prima Group and it is important to get our permission before any exchange takes place.
Please note that an application for an exchange may be refused if:
- You owe rent
- There is a court action against you for possession of the property
- One of the two households wishing to exchange would be overcrowded or would be under-occupying the new property
Prima Group is offering tenants free access to House Exchange, the UK’s biggest not-for-profit home swap scheme for social housing tenants. If you wish to apply all you need to do is visit their website at www.houseexchange.org.uk and register your details. You can search either locally, regionally or nationally for your ideal home. If you don’t have access to the internet, please contact us on 0151 227 1001 for more information.
