Prima Group appointed TPAS in December 2018 to help us, the landlord, and tenants to develop a new way of working together.
We are keen to establish a Prima Tenant/Customer Committee. This NEW group will provide us, the Prima Board, with assurance that the key services to all Prima tenants are being delivered in line with our agreed service standards, meet all our legal and charitable obligations, and ensure that Prima is a first class landlord.
What is the Prima Tenant/Customer Committee?
Our ambition is that it the Prima Tenant/Customer Committee is a key part of our governance. This means it will replace the current Customer Service & Performance and Tenant Scrutiny Committees, and will be a committee that reports directly to the Prima Board. The Prima Tenant/Customer Committee will review and monitor all the key landlord services on behalf of ALL Prima tenants.
How will it be set up?
This is where TPAS will be helping us because they have experience and knowledge of helping landlords and tenants to co-create tenant governance structures.
In order to set the Prima Tenant/Customer Committee up TPAS and ourselves would like a small group (3-5 people) of involved tenants to help us. You will create a Steering Group with TPAS and with Sharron McGuinness, Prima’s Group Director Operations. The Steering Group’s job will be to decide on the role of the Prima Tenant/Customer Committee, agree the role profile for the members and interview and appoint the members.
“The role of the Steering Group in helping to establish the new Prima Tenant Committee should not be underestimated. TPAS always recommends that new tenant governance structures should be co-designed with tenants, and the Steering Group’s job is to ensure that the tenant voice informs and influences the creation of the Prima Tenant/Customer Committee. TPAS is very supportive of tenant governance structures such as the model envisaged by Prima because it puts tenants back at the heart of landlord services” – Jackie Grannell, TPAS Associate.
The work of Steering Group will be starting in February and is likely to end in Summer 2019, once they have successfully recruited the members of the Prima Tenant/Customer Committee.
If you are interested in being a member of Steering Group please let Sharron know by emailing her on firstname.lastname@example.org by 12 noon on Friday 1st February 2019.
